Maryx Sharafutdinova

von Maxi Hallermann

In the beginning, Maryx’s works were characterized by drawing and sculptural elements which changed over time to media art and conceptual performance, live and through video. In everyday life her self-designed clothes and accessories are striking, though also typical for Maryx.

But she uses learned craft-based techniques such as tattooing. Not only her craft skills, but also her empathy for her fellow humans distinguishes her.

If you look over at her during colloquium, you will see her sitting in her seat while crocheting or drawing.

Furthermore, through zines, as well as in her newer works, she deals with rope bondage, heading in the direction of Shibari.

I was also very fascinated by her last work, her first audio experiment with a collage of various sounds.
